Laurell K Hamilton biography

Laurell K Hamilton is an American author best known for two series of fantasy novels, which centre on Anita Blake, a vampire killer and animator of the dead, and Meredith Gentry, a faerie princess and private investigator.

Born in Arkansas in 1963, Laurell has written eight Merry Gentry novels and 20 Anita Blake novels, with the latest due out in June 2011, as well as a range of other novels and an Anita Blake Marvel Comic series. Anita Blake novel Blood Noir, the 16th in the series, debuted in the number 1 slot of the New York Times bestseller list in 2008, and more than 6 million copies of this series have been printed.

Laurell's approach is to merge fantasy and horror themes with a contemporary setting, using strong female leads to battle vampires, zombies, werewolves, voodoo priestesses and a whole range of other ghouls and goblins, whilst also adding a strong dose of eroticism to the mix.
