The Golden Compass movie

My wife and my sisters went to watch The Golden Compass at the cinema on Sunday. They had all read and thoroughly enjoyed the book and said that although the film was good there were too many unnecessary changes. In particualar, Mrs Coulter becoming more maternal  than she was in the book was a strange choice as her being cold and distant really defined the character. Still, the feedback was more effusive than the Empire 2 star review which was pretty scathing.

It sounds like the Golden Compass is a similar film to The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe in that it contains impressive CGI but has unfortunately lost a lot of the book’s charm.

Twilight movie trailer

TWILIGHT is an action-packed, modern day love story between a vampire and a human. Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) has always been a little bit different, never caring about fitting in with the trendy girls at her Phoenix high school. When her mother remarries and sends Bella to live with her father in the rainy little town of Forks, Washington, she doesn't expect much of anything to change.
