I plan to watch the 3 Peter Jackson movies over the Christmas period as it has been some time since I last watched them. I remember being impressed by the films and liked what had been done but thought that there were a few additions that did spoil the film slightly - Legolas surfing down stairs on a shield is the one that stands out the most.
