The sixth film in the Harry Potter series by JK Rowling is due for release in 2008 and will be directed by David Yates who has already directed ‘The Order of The Phoenix’. It has been reported that a number of other directors were also approached before Yates was officially announced as the chosen director, including M. Night Shyamalan, Matthew Vaughn and James McTeigue. It was also reported that Alfonso Cuaron, director of ‘The Prisoner of Azkaban’ had expressed an interest in being offered another crack at the whip but he was not approached for this venture. There have been some changes to the last film with Steve Kloves, writer of the first four films returning to pen this sixth offering, having declined to work on the ‘The Order of the Phoenix’ in order to pen his own book The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime. Filming began on 24 September 2007 and is set to continue until May 2008. The scheduled release date for the film is 21st November both here and in the US, with Australia having to wait until the 27th November to feast their eyes.
