JK Rowling visited inmates at an Edinburgh prison in a bit to motivate them to read more and to present them with awards. A London based charity Shannon Trust helps prisoner across the UK to learn to read and they were delighted that Rowling was able to spend time with the prisoners and to provide them with the incentive to continue reading. David Ahern of the Trust said "She gave the prisoners a real boost… a real incentive to continue learning".
