Following the publication of the final Harry Potter book there has been a clamour by publishers claiming that they have "found" the new JK Rowling. The Times Online recently ran a story featuring Stephanie Meyer, the teetotal Mormon mother of three and author of books about teenage vampires. The books have sold in excess of seven million copies and knocked Harry Potter off the No1 bestseller spot in the US. Although Meyer’s fan base is still predominantly American her success is spreading through Europe. The release of Twilight, her first book, is scheduled for 2009 and expected to further enhance her popularity.
