Children and teenagers put together reading list for MPs

Children’s favourites Harry Potter and Tracey Beaker will be at the top of MPs’ reading lists this summer after suggestions put forward by youngsters.

Pupils aged between nine and fifteen were asked what books they felt should be read by politicians to afford them with an insight into the central issues and concerns of children and teenagers. JK Rowling’s Harry Potter series topped the list with many young people saying they were books adults and children could enjoy together and would also help MPs to use their imagination.

The most admired books will be presented to MPs by a group of schoolchildren at a meeting of the All Party Parliamentary Group on libraries. The novels will then be reserved in the House of Commons library.

16 schools provided their pupils’ recommendations of books for the MPs to read.

TWILIGHT is an action-packed, modern day love story between a vampire and a human. When her mother remarries and sends Bella to live with her father in the rainy little town of Forks, Washington, she doesn't expect much of anything to change.
