Blue plaque to honour CS Lewis

A blue plaque has been put up at the Oxford home of CS Lewis, author of the popular “The Chronicles of Narnia” series. The plaque, a distinctive memorial denoting the location as historically significant, was unveiled at the start of a two-week conference in honour of Mr. Lewis. He lived at The Kilns, a cottage in Headington, Oxford while he taught at Oxford University. He wrote the entirety of his “Narnia” series while residing there.

Stan Mattson, president of the California-based CS Lewis Foundation, attended the unveiling. Walter Hooper, who served as Mr. Lewis’s secretary the year before he died, also attended the unveiling ceremony.

The CS Lewis Foundation now owns The Kilns, and still houses the period wardrobe that first inspired the magical doorway to Narnia in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
