Dragon Keeper by Robin Hobb

On the day that Amazon.co.uk announced that Dragon Keeper by Robin Hobb is now available for pre-order, we take a look at what we can expect for this highly-anticipated piece of work. Dragon Keeper will hit bookstores on the 6th of July 2009.

In November 2007, on her official website, Robin Hobb mentioned that she was working on a stand-alone novel.

“The working title for it is Dragon Keeper, but I think that is likely to change as I get more pages. This book is set in the Rain Wilds, and chronologically, the events in it happen after the events described in Fool’s Fate. It will not be a direct continuation of any character’s story line, however. At this point, I don’t want to say too much more than that. ”

On August the 6th thePlenty.net announced that two different drafts from the prologue of Dragon Keeper can be read online here - Dragon Keeper drafts. The prologue features sea serpents and this obviously puts one in mind of the opening of The Liveship Traders - the return of Tintaglia is also welcome and lets us know that we will be at least some familiar ground.

Having recently read The Farseer Trilogy, The Liveship Traders and The Tawny Man I can’t wait to read more and June 2009 cannot come soon enough.
