Stephenie Meyer - the bestselling writer dubbed the next JK Rowling - has shelved plans for her upcoming novel Midnight Sun after an unfinished draft was leaked on the internet. Midnight Sun was planned as a companion piece to Meyer’s vampire-themed series of novels - Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn - which have become a hit with young-adults and dominate international bestsellers lists. A movie version of Twilight is due out next year.
Last month, 12 chapters of the unfinished manuscript were illegally leaked online and quickly spread virally. Fanatical book fans are known to lap up even minor details about new books in their favourite series’ and unauthorised leaks are common. Last year, the entire book Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was leaked online days before its official release. This was despite immense security measures such as guarded warehouses and satellite tracking on delivery vans.
Midnight Sun was expected to be a retelling of Twilight from the perspective of teen male vampire Edward Cullen, as opposed to Bella Swan. The story follows Cullen as he overcomes his blood lust and forms a relationship with a human teen. Meyer said she would now focus on spending more time with her family and working on other writing projects.

Twilight movie trailer
TWILIGHT is an action-packed, modern day love story between a vampire and a human. Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) has always been a little bit different, never caring about fitting in with the trendy girls at her Phoenix high school. When her mother remarries and sends Bella to live with her father in the rainy little town of Forks, Washington, she doesn't expect much of anything to change.

When I first heard about the Twilight series, I was intrigued, i’d heard it was a love story, and i was immediately captured. Stephenie has her own style of writing, and this definitely makes the Twilight books, as phenomenal as they are. They way Meyer describes the characters, gives you an immediate image in your head. I read New Moon all in one day, i literally could not put the book down. In some ways it was annoying, I had other things to be getting on with, and at fourteen, you know you ought to be out with your friends not inside reading, well i’ve finished Eclipse now, and I’m getting breaking dawn for christmas, and I’m 100% sure Stephenie, is going to make this book as dominating as all the others. People dubbing her as the next J.K Rowling should be ashamed, she’s far better than Rowling any day! I have gotten all my friends into the books, and I’ve seen the film, the way they portray the story is good, and i’m glad that there are going to be films, but I will say that the books are light years better than the films, I’m not to sure about the character choice. But then again, maybe there was a good reason for the people they chose. I think that Edward was made out in the book to be in-humanely beautiful, and they couldn’t find anyone good enough to show this so they settled for second best! Mitch Hewer would have been better FYI!
Stephenie HAS to release Midnight Sun! She’ll disappoint all her fans if she doesn’t.
So, the twilight series. 100000000/10 on my vote! And I think i’ve fallen in love with Edward! So far eclipse is the best book, but then each of them just get better and better. I feel lonely without one of her books by my side. LONG LIVE THE TWILIGHT SERIES. (:
