Random House US has launched a generic promotional campaign, Books = Gifts, that is set to kick off in the New York Times on 23rd November. Dan Brown, Christopher Paolini, Maya Angelou and Dean Koontz will be among the Random House US authors telling Americans why books make good Christmas presents as part of the promotion.
The authors will feature in video clips intended for online campaigns on retail sites, Facebook and YouTube, and RH’s own website. Other elements of the campaign include print ads, online banners and e-mail advertisements secured for free from the New York Times Review, The New Yorker, Conde Nast and National Geographic.
Random House US spokesperson Stuart Applebaum said the Books = Gifts campaign had come about following a push from chairman and CEO Markus Dohle to help drive customers to retailers and was designed by “an all-star team” from throughout the company.
