Borders, Leeds, Thursday December 4th, 5pm onwards
York author and journalist Jerry Ibbotson will be signing copies of his first novel, Chosen, in Borders bookshop in Leeds on Thursday, December the 4th.
Magic books, zombie vicars, God and fondue forks are brought together in the story of Alex Preston: a grumpy, daydreaming office worker who finds a tunnel in the basement at work. It leads to a land full of magic and fantasy. Armed with a sleeping bag and a small torch, Alex leaves his family behind and sets off to explore. Chosen is a mixture of coming of age tale and fantasy story, describes as a mixture of C S Lewis and Nick Hornby.
The book has already attracted a following online, with a small legion of fans on the social networking site Facebook, as well as its own website. It has also featured on BBC Radio 5Live and BBC Radio York.
Jerry Ibbotson was a BBC journalist for ten years, working at Radio York and then at Newsbeat at Radio One, where he reported on events from around the world and read the news for the likes of John Peel and Chris Moyles.
He left the BBC in 2000 and returned to York to set up his own business: Media Mill, a successful audio studio based in York, producing sound effects for PlayStation games. He writes as a freelance journalist for technology magazines but this is his first piece of published fiction.

Twilight movie trailer
TWILIGHT is an action-packed, modern day love story between a vampire and a human. Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) has always been a little bit different, never caring about fitting in with the trendy girls at her Phoenix high school. When her mother remarries and sends Bella to live with her father in the rainy little town of Forks, Washington, she doesn't expect much of anything to change.
