Pullman and Paolini soon to be available on iPhones
Christopher Paolini’s Brisingr and Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials trilogy are among the dozen-plus books coming to the iPhone and to iPod Touch, publisher Random House.
“We are pleased to be making this initial list of outstanding books by some of our top-selling authors available to a ground-breaking group of readers,” Matt Shatz, Random House’s vice president for digital books, said in a statement.
Random House recently announced it was adding thousands of books to its digital catalogue and has said that e-sales more than tripled in 2008, although the electronic market remains a tiny part of the overall book market.
Several other publishers, including Simon & Schuster and HarperCollins, have been making e-books available on iPhones.
Christopher Paolini was born on the 17th November 1983 in Southern California. His best known works include Eragon and Eldest, both part of the Inheritance Cycle. Paolini’s childhood was spent in the Paradise Valley of Montana. Christopher was taught at home and passed his accredited correspondence courses at the age of 15. Following his graduation he began writing the novels that would go on to become Eragon and Eldest.
Philip Pullman was born on the 19th October, 1946 in Norwich, England. Pullman is best known for the series of books entitled His Dark Materials, the award winning children’s literature consisting of Northern Lights, The Subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass.
