Stephenie Meyer sweeps Canada in 2008
Source: The Ampersand
BookNet Canada released their list of the bestselling books in Canada in 2008, and, not surprisingly, Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight series took four of the five top spots.
The only book that outsold Meyer was A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose by Eckhart Tolle. JK Rowling’s latest book, The Tales of Beedle the Bard, finished in twentieth spot. However, the book was only on sale for two weeks before the list was compiled; the list encompasses January 1, 2008 until the week ending December 14.

Special Feature: Understanding the author of Alice in Wonderland

Lewis Carroll, the elusive author of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass, has been the subject of enduring fascination for the past hundred years. The destruction of many major documents about his personal life by his descendants has only magnified the mystery. Jenny Woolf's biography, published to coincide with the release of the new Tim Burton Alice in Wonderland film, lays waste to the myths and suspicions that have obscured Carroll's reputation by placing him firmly in the context of his own time.
