Pratchett’s Nation to grace National Theatre
Terry Pratchett’s novel Nation is set to become the third book adaptation in a row to grace the National Theatre.
Following acclaimed versions of Michael Morpurgo’s War Horse and Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials, Pratchett’s Nation will begin the NT’s star-studded programme for 2009 .
Adapted for the stage by the controversial playwright Mark Ravenhill, Nation will begin a season that will include Phedre, starring Helen Mirren; a new production of All’s Well That Ends Well; Brecht’s Mother Courage, starring Fiona Shaw and a new play by Alan Bennett.
It is believed that 1% of all the books sold in England are penned by Pratchett. His books have been translated into 36 different languages and have sold over 60 million copies.
