Theatre Sans Fil is a Montreal-based puppet theater company, that has garnered international acclaim for over 35 years for its elaborate shows which use giant puppets. It is famous for presenting pure fantasy on the dramatic stage acted by life-size puppets in exaggerated manifestations. The name Theatre Sans Fil, which translates as "theater without strings", was initially inspired by the classical technique of Japanese Bunraku theatre in which large puppets are directly manipulated by camouflaged performers, rather than by the pulling of marionette strings. Theatre Sans Fil has updated the subtly expressive artistry of Bunraku with the wizardry of contemporary technical theater, including black lights, lasers and Dolby-Stereo quadraphony.
JRR Tolkien’s The Hobbit is one of the best known and best loved fantasy books. First published by George Allen & Unwin in 1937, The Hobbit has been translated into 50 different languages and sold well over 100 million copies.
