New release: The Missing by Adam J. Shardlow
A girl vanishes from a crowded shop.
A wife awaits a husband who will never arrive.
Parents mourn a daughter that never existed.
They are the missing, lost souls, the disappeared.
Nick Stuart wakes to find his girlfriend gone, not just from his bed but from the minds and memories of friends and family. Convinced he is to blame for her disappearance he seeks help, but all evidence of her existence has been wiped away. Has she left him, or is something more sinister at work? What happened the night she vanished? And who is the man with eyes that burn like a desert?
The police have their own worries as the heat wave builds and turns the city into a melting pot of violence and frustration, all brought to a head by the mysterious ‘Missing Man’ who snatches women from the streets leaving no clues.
As they investigate, the two cases become linked, but who is behind the crime – a man, a monster or a myth? Adam J. Shardlow is a writer for the popular BBC comedy quiz ‘Call My Bluff.’ A successful author of ‘dark’ fiction and freelance journalist, his work has been printed around the world including articles for The Guardian and The Idler. Adam was born in Nottingham in the mid 1970s. For the first fourteen years of his life he thought he was Robin Hood reincarnated and spent much of his time playing in the woods behind his house and creating a rich and varied fantasy life for himself. Finding little profit in being an outlaw he went to university and started to write agonisingly self indulgent works for the stage, only one of which was ever produced. Married to Madame Vin they left the UK and lived in Italy and then New Zealand before settling in Edinburgh because he liked the beer and could understand the accent and she could get a good bottle of Syrah.
