Barrie author’s The Band of Ward series begins with The Gathering

Timothy David Walker’s first novel The Gathering is available at local bookstores. Inspired by JRR Tolkien and JK Rowling, walker claims his series holds similarities to The Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter books.

The Gathering, published in mid-2009, is the first book in Walker’s 10-part series The Band of Ward. The second book has been accepted to be published, and will be available this summer.

“The novel is being marketed for youth between nine and fifteen, but it appeals to everyone really,” said Walker. “It’s a fantasy series. It’s a way to get away from the annoyances of real life and go into another world. It’s great to sit back, read and escape.”

Walker, a father of two said he was bitten by the writing bug in high school.

The Gathering is available at most local bookstores.

Image: The Mystery of Lewis Carroll book cover

Lewis Carroll, the elusive author of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass, has been the subject of enduring fascination for the past hundred years. The destruction of many major documents about his personal life by his descendants has only magnified the mystery. Jenny Woolf's biography, published to coincide with the release of the new Tim Burton Alice in Wonderland film, lays waste to the myths and suspicions that have obscured Carroll's reputation by placing him firmly in the context of his own time.
