World Book Night announces stellar cast

Margaret Atwood, Alan Bennett, Nick Cave, John Le Carre, Rupert Everett, Mark Haddon, Hanif Kureishi, Edna O’Brien, DBC Pierre, Lemn Sissay, Derek Walcott and Philip Pullman have so far been confirmed to headline a World Book Night launch event compered by Graham Norton in Trafalgar Square on the eve of World Book Night.

The event, a glittering celebration of the written word, will take place on the evening of Friday 4th March 2011. It will be sponsored by both Sony and its dedicated digital reading device, Reader™, and by Waterstone’s. An audience of 10,000 people, made up of 5,000 World Book Night givers and 5,000 members of the public, will be treated to wide-ranging performances and readings from some of the most celebrated artists from stage and screen, literature and art, as well as from some of the authors whose books feature on the list of 25 World Book Night titles.

This is a free event starting at 6pm ending at 8pm with access to Trafalgar Square from 5.00pm.
