Elara Vance profile

Elara Vance is a librarian and freelance book critic based in Toronto. She founded her popular blog, "The Wardrobe Door," a decade ago out of a need to catalogue and analyze the sheer volume of fantastical worlds she was reading. She believes that the true joy of portal fantasy lies not just in the journey out of our world, but in the psychological journey of the main character adjusting to the new one - and the possibility of going back. Her favourite books are those that use the premise of parallel universes to explore deep philosophical questions, like identity, destiny, and the nature of reality.
