NK Jemisin biography

Nora Jemisin is an author of speculative fiction short stories and novels who lives and writes in Brooklyn, NY. In addition to writing, she is a counseling psychologist.

Her short fiction has been published in pro markets such as Clarkesworld, Postscripts, Strange Horizons, and Baen’s Universe; podcast markets and print anthologies; and has received Honorable Mentions in The Year’s Best Fantasy and Horror and The Year’s Best Science Fiction.

Her first novel, The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms, is out from Orbit Books as of February 2010. It is the first book of the Inheritance Trilogy. Her novels are represented by Lucienne Diver of the Knight Agency.

She is the recipient of a Gulliver Travel Grant from the Speculative Literature Foundation, and a graduate of the Viable Paradise writing workshop. Her short story “Non-Zero Probabilities” is on the Final Ballot for the 2009 Nebula Awards.

She is currently a member of the Altered Fluid writing group.
