Kameron Hurley is a celebrated American author of science fiction and fantasy, known for her "visceral" world-building and the subversion of traditional genre tropes. Born in 1980 in Washington State, she has lived in Alaska, Chicago, and South Africa, eventually settling in Dayton, Ohio. Her background includes degrees in history and a professional career in marketing and advertising.

Hurley first gained widespread attention with the Bel Dame Apocrypha trilogy, which began with God's War (2011). This series is famously described as "bugpunk," featuring a far-future setting where technology is based on insectile biology. Her other major series, the Worldbreaker Saga, is a grimdark epic fantasy that explores parallel universes and complex power dynamics.
