Karen Traviss biography
Karen Traviss is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of three Star Wars: Republic Commando novels: Hard Contact, Triple Zero, and True Colors; three Star Wars: Legacy of the Force novels: Bloodlines, Revelation, and Sacrifice; as well as City of Pearl, Crossing the Line, The World Before, Matriarch, and Judge. A former defense correspondent and TV and newspaper journalist, Traviss has also worked as a police press officer, and advertising copywriter, and a journalism lecturer. Her short stories have appeared in Asimov's, Realms of Fantasy, On Spec, and Star Wars Insider. She lives in Devizes, England.
Traviss published her first Star Wars novel, Republic Commando: Hard Contact, in 2004. Her work for Star Wars usually involves clone troopers, Mandalorians, or related characters such as Boba Fett. She is amongst other things known for developing the Mandalorian language, Mando'a, into a working language.
Yes, I'm English. I live in England. I write English English.(Except for the spelling, of course.) But for all intents and purposes, treat me as a North American author, because I'm not part of the UK SF scene, and my focus is pretty well exclusively the US market. To be honest, I'm not part of any SF scene. I'm not much of a joiner-in when it comes to SF, and, if the fancy takes me and the money is right, I'll write in other genres.
